Carbon fiber BMX Bikes
2. Material parts - they consist of an aluminum base bracket layer, mind tube, quick chair tube, cable stops, back dropouts and a rear brake employers. The used thin-walled tubes and cable stops were made on a lathe, the carbon framework I have purchased back dropouts and braking system employers from bike components supplier. I've made all of them by water-jet cutting for the bamboo framework. I prefer to utilize 7075 Alloy when it comes to metal parts. It is good to have all aluminum components anodized, as you then do not need to put a light level of fiberglass across the aluminum tubes and part of the back dropouts as an insulation between the aluminum and carbon against galvanic corrosion.
3. Foam core - I have tried personally polystyrene foam to really make the core associated with carbon frame. But it is more straightforward to use extruded polystyrene, or reboundable foam, which can be much more rigid. Later I have tried personally the reboundable foam which will be ordinarily useful for insulation for the exterior walls of buildings.
4. Materials for laminating - i've selected a bi-directional woven carbon cloth (180 grams per square meter). I have used MGS's L285 epoxy resin with hardener 285 for laminating. The carbon framework I utilized about 3.8 sq.m associated with material, the bamboo framework about 2.0 sq.m. You can also use uni-directional carbon for the base layers and employ the bi-directional carbon just for the outer layer.
5. Products - I used synthetic home foil for within the workbench throughout the wetting out the carbon, exudate gloves, a tiny electronic scale for weighing for the specific number of resin and hardener, glasses for mixing, paint brushes for wetting out, lots of electric tape, sand paper and a great respirator during sanding.
